Snott från ASL-ML /RM --- Yes - that is right - it is time to start the 6th annual tourney of the CyberASL Open. What is it you ask? It is a tourney that I run online. I set up a single elimination draw with consolation bracket. Players then play via FTF (rare), VASL Live, or VASL PBEM. I am sure if you could get your opponent to agree to it - you could even play by snail mail. I am not going to say much more - most the players have heard about this tourney. If you have any specific questions, then fire them away to me. One warning though for the non-ASL fanatic. If you keep winning and due to the number of players, this tourney takes more than a year to complete. This paragraph is for the slower players - if you normally finish your matches on time, then disregard. I will stress this. I work a job now that required me to travel around the U.S. regularly. So matches are primarily you and your opponents responsibility to finish. Each match theoretically should take around 2 to 3 months. I never call a round until most of the matches are completed. But at that point I normally start adjuticating matches or ask for someone to cry Uncle. With the job mentioned though, I have less time to monitor the players, so it is going to become more a responsibility of the players to continure to move your matches along. I will still operate in the normal fashion except for if you email me I might not answer for a couple weeks until I return from the field. It helps to communicate to the players if you would sign up for the website. It is at: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/CyberASL_Open/ I do have some questions I need to ask someone to answer to me. Since I have unfortunately been away from playing ASL now for more than a year. Is this the only ASL mailing list? Can someone send me the address to the different ASL forumns? Is one of the forumns preferred over the others? Been awhile since I have announced a signup, so maybe I have forgotten to mention some things. I am sure someone will let me know if I did. : ) So who wants to roll some dice on the internet? John Provan
