AFTERMATH (6 Turns): The Germans prepared for their assault into the Barrikady Factory district. The attack would be spearheaded by two Sturm companies and one rifle company — a shock force of roughly 350 battle-hardened soldiers from the 6th Army. They were supported by a platoon of three Panzer IIIL, six SPW 251/1 half-tracks, and two SPW 251/10 command vehicles mounting 3.7 cm PaK guns. Overhead, Stuka dive-bombers circled, while observed artillery fire had been planned to soften the Soviet defenses. Opposing them, the Soviets had dug in with approximately 350 men in the forward line and another 120 in the second defense line— a total defensive strength of nearly 500 troops. Their defense had support by two AT 45mm and three dug-in, hidden T-70 tankettes. Soviet Lt 70+mm artillery aimed to fire in front of Chemist Shop at German entry points closest to the Volga. Another OBA 80+mm targeted area around the railway embankments. At first light, the German soldiers advanced into the barrikady district. Eight Panzer half-tracks raced forward, packed with Stoßtruppen — heading straight for the Russian frontline in the center. The assault quickly gained momentum. German panzers and half-tracks cut off Soviet retreat paths, forcing the defenders out into the open where Stukas screamed down and targeted them. Soviet artillery in the Volga sector called down artillery blast at the German infantry that canceled their push in that sector and withdrew off-board toward their starting positions. In the western sector, however, the assault pressed on relentlessly. German troops advanced forward. The Soviets either retreated in disorder or stood and fought to the death, often cut off by German armor. A Russian anti-tank gun revealed itself and fired twenty rounds at an immobilized SPW hull-down by the embankment after a Russ squad had attacked it in CC, the failure led the squad to be eliminated by the SPW. Finally a hit in the upper part of the SPW made it explode in a fireball, shortly thereafter the AT gun was captured and its crew eliminated. A dug-in T-70 was discovered by German infantry and quickly eliminated by a Panzer IIIL. Another Pz IIIL was shocked and by an ATR hit and never recovered and thereby wrecked. Then, suddenly, the German storm tactics ground to a halt. Ammunition shortages, worsened by the brutal attrition of house-to-house fighting. As the assault waves paused to resupply, a radio message crackled from the rear: the battalion cook reported that supper was ready. Exhausted soldiers exchanged grim, ironic glances. In the midst of hell, Germ Casualties: 0 Ldr, 6.5 Squad-equivalents, 2 SWs, 5 AFVs. Russ Cas: 2 Ldr, 18.5 Squad-equivalents, 6 SWs, 1 Gun, 1 AFV. AFTERMATH (6 Turns): The Germans prepared for their assault into the Barrikady district. The attack would be spearheaded by one Sturm Coy and by three rifle companies — a massed assault force of 500 battle-hardened soldiers from the 6th Army. They were supported by a platoon of Panzer IIIL tanks, Stuka dive-bombers, and well-coordinated observed artillery fire that had been meticulously planned. Opposing them, the Soviets had roughly 350 men holding the forward line and another 250 in a reserve position farther back — a total defensive strength of about 600 troops. Their position was anchored by two 45 mm anti-tank guns, fortifications and had booby-trapped the area. At first light, the professionals of the 6th Army launched their push along the entire front. German stormtroopers, backed by the scream of Stukas and the thunder of artillery, smashed into the Soviet positions. The forward Soviet line was quickly overrun and evicted in a whirlwind of grenades and close-quarters combat. The surviving defenders were forced to fall back and frantically organize a second line of defense. That second line, too, crumbled under the relentless German onslaught. The Soviets suffered horrendous losses — entire platoons wiped out by concentrated fire, building after building. Then, suddenly, the German storm tactics ground to a halt. Ammunition shortages, exacerbated by the brutal fighting. As the assault waves paused to resupply, a radio message crackled from the rear: the battalion chef reported that supper was ready. Exhausted soldiers exchanged grim, ironic glances. In the midst of hell, the war would wait for dinner. The surviving Soviets regrouped, knowing the next German push would come soon. Call for reinforcement was requested send anything!!! The reply was "Militia 1st Coy is activated" in silence the Russian survivors thought - "will that help".

WC4 With Iron Will Ett ok scenario trots bristfällig design.

AFTERMATH 21 Oct (7 Turns): As dawn’s pale light lit up the Barrikady halls, soldiers on both sides were prepared. The Germans opened the death-dance as a sudden storm of MG-42 fire raking every suspected Soviet position, tracer rounds whipping across the halls with rubble and debris like angry hornets. Soviets were either eliminated or routed as Germans started the advance forward inside the largest hall, two Soviet btln mtr batteries of 80+mm artillery called in strike after another. Decimated the advancing Germans, within minutes the German assault wave had disintegrated, under the relentless hammering. The Soviets surged forward and had retaken the entire vast hall. Every German counter-attack that followed—failed. In the adjacent hall the fighting settled into a stalemate. Elsewhere, fresh German rifle companies—arrived and pushed 200 metres along the railway embankment. At the Chemist’s Shop, the Germans only hold onto their positions. The butcher’s bill had grown unbearable. The losses were simply too high especially amongt the officers. At OKH headquarters the order came down: the full-scale operation against the Barrikady complex was cancelled. General Stoffe Peyre would be facing a court-martial by direct orders from Berlin. In the spring of 1942, two Soviet armies launched a massive offensive toward Kharkov. The Germans, however, responded with a powerful counterattack that caught the advancing Soviet forces in a large-scale pincer movement, trapping them in a huge pocket. After several days of fierce fighting, with their supplies critically low, the Soviets were finally forced to abandon their positions and attempt a desperate breakout. Svantnovski, commanding the spearhead of the breakout, ran straight into a wall of German fire. Extremely accurate — or perhaps simply lucky — German gunnery systematically blasted one Soviet tank after another. The Soviet infantry fared no better; their advance collapsed into a disorganized mob of ragtag soldiers, led (or rather misled) by three wounded officers. Their fourth commander had already charged forward alone in a berserk frenzy and been cut down. German anti-tank weapons performed exceptionally well during the engagement: A single SPW 250, armed with the 37L gun, knocked out two T-60 M40 light tanks. One leichte PaK 41 destroyed three Soviet AFVs. The second leichte PaK 41 accounted for one more. The two "doorknocker" 3.7 cm PaK 36 guns each claimed two AFVs (two of the kills achieved with Stielgrenades). One Panzerjäger I (47L) knocked out three AFVs, two of them with critical hits. Two Panzer III L tanks each destroyed two Soviet AFVs. The third Pz IIIL with the 10-2 Pz Ldr never got a chance to engage any Soviet AFV. German losses were negligible. The defensive line held firm, and Stuka dive-bombers were already on their way to deliver the final blow.

  16. Jag rekommenderade 2017 (står i turnerings-tråden): replace two or three 4-5-7 squads with two or three 4-5-8 squads. J183 – A REAL BARN BURNER Recommend playing with G2 or G3 G1: Replace one French 457 squad with a 458. G2: G1+ Replace one French 457 squad with a 458. G3: G2+ Replace one French 457 squad with a 458.

AFTERMATH 20 Oct (7 Turns): After a day of uneasy respite, the Germans unleashed hell on the Red Barricades. A fresh Pionier company, prepared to lead the way signaled the start of the onslaught as flamethrowers fired volley after volley.. Supported by infantry companies and a Battalion Mortar, pre-registered artillery hammered the roofless factory hall, obliterating massed militia units. Flamethrowers belched liquid fire through shattered windows and doorways, igniting panic as German squads stormed in, methodically purging every shadow of Soviet resistance. In the vast central hall, Soviet defenders—emboldened by numbers—lay in wait prepared to contain the assault. But a 150mm artillery blasted their positions, spotted by a circling Fieseler Storch, turned confidence to catastrophe. Shells ripped through the structure in a storm of steel splinters and shockwaves, spiking casualties and vaporizing an entire rag-tag Militia company in minutes amid choking smoke and dust. The Soviets' 70mm guns fired two artillery mission before ammo starvation silenced them. Relentless German artilley blasts denied any breathing room, yielding massive terrain gains in the halls. Desperate Soviet counterthrusts sparked brutal close combats, often ending in mutual annihilation. The fresh experienced Pionier company bled 30% on its debut in the barrikady, all three flamethrowers immolated beyond recovery. Along the railway embankments, a Soviet probe crumbled under fire, only for a hasty German riposte to falter—pure stalemate. Volga Flank: A light mortar scored critical hits, erasing two German squads in the beginning. Raking MG fire from the Chemist Shop and a .50 cal HMG in the Commissar House shredded German outposts. Seizing momentum, the Russians counterattacked, reclaiming a few buildings and recaptured the Volga shoreline. Germ Casualties: 2 Leaders, 17.5 Squad-eq, 4 SW. Russ Casualties: 5 Leaders, 37.5 Squad-eq, 3 SWs.
