Day one - 17 Oct, German Assault, Clear, Moderate, no wind (Balance G5 in play).

AFTERMATH 17 Oct (6 Turns):The new appointed Russian commander has set up a frontline defense with 550 men (of which 200 men held in a second-defense-line reserve). Both sides are supported by artillery (80+mm Btln Mtr). The German commander, an old veteran, directs his forces of nearly 500 soldiers forward along the entire front line. In the Volga sector, a Russian observer begins zeroing in artillery on the German entry area, prompting 30 German soldiers to retreat back off-board. Still, the Russian artillery is called down and knocks out a Pz III L with a critical hit, while a 50cal HMG opens fire from the Chemist Shop and eliminate two German HS.
Along the rest of the frontline, the Sturm Company charges forward. With support from artillery, a Pz III L platoon, and more than two rifle companies, they break the Russian defense line in the center. The Russians do a fighting withdrawel back to red halls or sacrifice themselves to stall the German drive. The promised Stuka support never seems to arrive—but suddenly it does, managing to hit and eliminate one German 5-4-8 squad. A letter of complaint is later written to the Luftwaffe after the battle; one of its sentences reads: "We could have just as well asked the Red Air Force to bomb our spearheads." Four two-hex buildings were captured today. The stage is set for tomorrow: Reinforcements have been called up, and the attack will resume once they arrive. The Soviets plan for tomorrow as well.

Day two - 18 Oct, German Assault, Overcast, Wet, Hvy Wind.

AFTERMATH 18 Oct (7 Turns): On the second day, the Germans advance with fresh reinforcements, a second Sturm company and six Panzer IIIs. Harsh winds and overcast skies make for poor assault conditions, but orders from Berlin demand adherence to a rigid timetable. Before the rain begins, two Soviet artillery barrages hammer the front line, killing 30 German soldiers instantly, setting one Panzer III ablaze, and immobilizing another. A .50-cal HMG, positioned 500 meters away in a tall building, cuts down more German troops along the railroad. In response, two Panzer IIIs return fire, eliminating the 2-2-8 crew manning the machine gun.
Near the embankments, two hidden dug-in T-60 tanks start firing, but are swiftly knocked out. In the factory sector, the Germans crush resistance in the first hall with ruthless efficiency. Emboldened, they press into the next hall, only to face a desperate Soviet human wave attack launched by reserve forces. Both sides suffer heavy casualties in the brutal melee. The Volga sector remains untouched, allowing the Soviets to redirect 100 men to the factory sector, arriving just in time to replenish the hundreds already lost.

AFTERMATH 19 Oct (6 Turns): The German assault in the Volga sector swiftly overcame or eliminated Russian resistance until it encountered the formidable obstacle of the Chemist Shop. A Soviet artillery gun positioned outside the building opened fire with devastating effect, drawing intense German firepower. Despite this, the gun crew stood resolute, repelling two hand-to-hand assaults and decisively eliminating the German attackers in close combat. The position held firm, thwarting all attempts to capture it. Meanwhile, the assault in the Red Halls pressed forward, routing the Russian defenders deeper into the complex.

AFTERMATH 20 Oct (6 Turns) The Germans persist in their assaults on the factory complex, gaining some ground but facing overwhelming Soviet firepower. Their heavy casualties are unsustainable in the long term, and they have lost the momentum from the battle's early stages. The Soviets have amassed a formidable force and are poised to decisively outgun the Germans in the coming days. Ultimately, the Germans relent, paving the way for a triumphant Soviet victory.:
