Version 3.1 of IIFT(M)QRDC is now out, in pdf format. You can select between A4 and letter format, and b/w or color. Please contact me if you have questions/suggestions or find errors.

The Incremental Infantry Fire Table (Mini) Quick Reference Data Card, IIFT(M)QRDC, is a reference card that contains the Incremental IFT and some of the most used charts in updated/corrected versions. The charts in the second edition of the ASLRB still have a few errors that is corrected in the IIFT(M)QRDC.

Notes on printing

The files look good on my printer, but please contact me if you're having problem printing it. Take special note of the Page scaling option. The color version has color out to the edges. If you have a printer that handles this, setting Page scaling to None may give best results. If not, you should set it to Shrink large pages

The CTC variant for the IIFT

I have made some computer analysis of the IIFT vs the IFT, which has lead me to the conclution that the only way the IIFT can affect play balance to a noticable degree is the increased number of PTCs which leads to an increased possibility of stripping Concealment. This effect is eliminated in the CTC variant. In this variant all the "new" PTCs that the IIFT creates are changed to "CTC". This variant is included in the IIFT rules in the second edition of the rulebook, in footnote A10A.

A "CTC" result has the following effect: Vs a non-HIP, unconcealed target a CTC is a normal PTC. Vs HIP or Concealed targets the CTC is treated as No Effect, and will therefore neither strip Concealment or generate a PTC.

Changes compared to the official second edition tables

This is a list of the most important changes. There may be some additional rewording etc. Most of those changes should be regarded as errata/clarifications to the official tables.

  • IIFT: CTC version added
  • Ambush table: No changes
  • Leader creation table: No changes
  • Close Combat table:
    • by Overstacked per excess squad changed to by Overstacked per excess squad/vehicle
If there are two vehicles in a Location, both they and other units must pay this +1 DRM.
    • vs Overstacked per excess squad changed to vs Overstacked Infantry/Cavalry per excess squad
This DRM is NA vs an enemy vehicle/PRC.
    • by unpinned Gurkha/Japanese vs Infantry/Cavalry in HtH CC (unless ambushed) changed to by armed & unpinned Japanese/Gurkha in HtH
Vs Infantry/Cavalry is superfluous since HtH is NA vs vehicles/PRC. Unarmed Gurkha/Japanese do not receive this DRM. They do get this DRM even if ambushed (provided that the opponent initiates HtH).
    • by Dare-Death MMC vs Personnel changed to by Dare-Death MMC vs Personnel [NA if unarmed/pinned in HtH]
This DRM is NA if unarmed/pinned and in HtH

    [*]Heat of Battle table:

    • Added Assaulting/Evacuating side in a Beach Location/on a Pier (G14.32) under Treat as Battle Hardening
    • Added /on a Pier behind Assaulting/Evacuating side in a Beach Location under Treat as Berserk
This was clarified in an official Q&A.

    [*]To Hit table:

    • Changed * Gun, L Gun and LL Gun to * weapon, L weapon and LL weapon
These modifications apply to SW ordnance as well as Guns.

    [*]Firer/Target-based Hit determination DRM tables:

    • Added note S to case A
Case A is not applicable to SW, so not having note S here is incorrect.
    • Added (+3 if firer is in woods/building/rubble) to case B
Case B is normally +2, but +3 in the above cases.
    • Reworded L Applicable to LATW even if using own To Hit Table to Not applicable to LATW using own To Hit Table and moved the L's accordingly
I swapped the meaning of L to get a clearer explanation, and make it similar to the meaning of + and S.
    • Combined S and G notes to one S note, and removed the note from case M
Case M is applicable to MG's as well as mortars, so having a G note here is incorrect.
    • Leadership changed to Leadership (NA for Gun unless veh. Gun directed by Armor Leader; D3.4)
This clarify that non-vehicular Guns never get the benfit of leadership DRM.
    • Added Hero (A15.23) (NA when firing two-man SW or Gun)
This DRM is totally missing from the official table.
    • Added Infantry on Wire (B26.31)
This DRM is also totally missing from the official table.
    • Point Blank Range (Non-Stopped/Motion target NA) changed to Point Blank Range (NA if Non-Stopped/Motion firer/target)
This clarify that the DRM is also NA when firer is Non-Stopped/Motion.

    [*]AP To Kill table:

    • Removed color and note for British 88 and Australian 88*
Those are the only 88 and 88* Guns, so there is no need for those notes.

[*]APCR/APDS To Kill table: No changes

[*]HEAT To Kill table: No changes

[*]HE & Flame To Kill table:

    • 2, 3, 4: Only TK# Modifiers are: changed to 2, 3, 4: Only TK# Modifiers are +1 if Rear Target Facing &:
Case A - rear target facing, applies to all those three weapon types.
    • +1/+2 Elevation adv. (C7.22); added to note 3
The elevation advantage is a TK modifier for MOL.
    • Double if CH; added to note 5
Just to clarify that the CH TK modifier applies to MOL-projectors.

    [*]AFV Destruction table: No changes

General IIFT rules

For those of you who don't own the ASL Annual '89 or the second edition rulebook, the following rules apply to the Incremental IFT (IIFT):

COLUMN SHIFTS: Column shifts (for Cowering, Fire Lane, Barrage FP, HEAT HE Equivalency, etc.) always use "standard" IFT columns (i.e., 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 30, 36), which are marked on the IIFT with a colored background (as opposed to the "incremental" columns which are not so marked). When a one-column shift is required, an attack that would otherwise have used a "standard" IFT column simply shifts to the next-lower-FP "standard" column; an attack that otherwise would have used an "incremental" column first shifts to the next-lower-FP "standard" column, then shifts again to the next-lower-FP "standard" column. A two-column shift follows these same principles, but drops yet again to the next-lower-FP "standard" column.

FIREPOWER MODIFIERS: Doubling, halving and such of FP (e.g., PBF, Area Fire, etc.) is based upon the actual FP (both before and after increasing/decreasing it), regardless of whether the columns are "standard" or "incremental" [EXC: Residual FP uses the highest-FP counter that is ? 1/2 the FP used in the attack]. DRM are applied normally, regardless of column.

Tack Ole!
