  1. I want to inform everybody that the upcoming Arnhem tournament will be the last Arnhem tournament I'll be running :-( The 2012 will continue as planned but the future for the 2013 tournament isn't sure (yet), see below. After I've taken over control of the Arnhem tournament (with the help of Albrecht, Allard, Peter & Roderick) a few years have passed and I enjoyed running the tournament. Normal life (a daytime job) however is taken more and more time and I can't commit all the time in the tournament that I want to put in. This has let me to decide to stop organizing the tournament. In the last weeks I've asked other Dutch players if they would be interested in running the tournament and we might've found somebody that can take over. However ... this isn't 100% sure and it might take some more weeks before we know for sure. In the meantime I wanted to give everybody a change to book rooms in the Arnhem StayOkay before the deadline of August 1st is running out. So it might be that the Arnhem tournament (which has it's 10th anniversary this year) will be history after September 23 2012 but there is still a change there will be a different one next year albeit one with a different organizer & tournament director. I hope to see a lot of you in Arnhem to make this Arnhem ASL tournament a very special one. Regards, Hennie
  2. The scenario-list for the final round is complete as well. We've updated the Arnhem website and it now includes the complete scenario-list [EXC: surprise round] for the upcoming tournament.
  3. The scenario list for the Arnhem 2012 tournament has been published on out website. Check out http://www.arnhemasl.com/ We haven't listed the scenarios for the final round yet. We're discussing the scenarios right now and think we have to play them one more time before including them in the scenario list. Expect the scenarios for the final round to be published and on the website in about 4 weeks. Tournament dates are September 20-23, 2012. While the tournament room is open on Thursday for friendly gaming the main tournament starts on Friday morning. Make sure you've made your room reservation (and payment) before August 2012. Hope to see many of you in Arnhem. Hennie
  4. The 10th edition of the Advanced Squad Leader Event in Arnhem, Holland, will start on Thursday, 20th of September 2012 and continue non-stop until Sunday, September 23th. The Bridge Too Far ASL Tournament will have 5 Rounds of gaming for an expected 20-25 participants. On Thursday we'll have the gaming room open for friendly gaming around 1pm. On Friday, all players will take part in the Main Tournament. On Saturday and Sunday, half the crowd will continue in the Main Tournament, while the others will compete in a variety of Mini-Tournaments. The surprise round will be round 4 on Saturday afternoon. As in previous years the Mini Tournaments will be single elimination style but this year we will start with one or two 4 person round robin Mini Tournaments in which each player has to play all the other players in the Mini Tournament. The number of round robin Mini's is determined by the number of interested players but at least one of them will be played. Our main objective is to bring together a truly international group of ASL players for four days of gaming. We will select exciting and balanced scenarios, and try to avoid tournament classics most people have played before. The Program and provisional Themes for A Bridge Too Far 2012 will be announced in February 2012 and the full scenario list will be announced in May/June 2012. We have pre-booked 30 beds at the Hostel, which will be offered on a first-come first-serve basis. If you wish to organize your accommodation at the tournament venue through the Tournament Organizers, you MUST register and pay in full before 1st of August, 2012. After the 1st of August 2012, we will take no further direct responsibility for organizing any accommodation at StayOkay. You are free to make your own direct arrangements with them (if rooms are still available) or we can advise you on alternative accommodation nearby. All competitive results from the Arnhem ASL Tournament are submitted to the European Area Ranking, which is also used as the basis (together with nationality) for the pairing of players in the first three rounds of the tournament. We will keep you updated through this forum and of course through our website: http://www.arnhemasl.com We hope to see a lot of our Swedish friends in the Arnhem woods next September !
  5. Just wanted to let you all know the scenariolist for the Arnhem 2011 tournament has been published on the website. The scenarios for the Mini tournaments will be published in June. Check out http://www.arnhemasl.com/ Tournament dates are September 22-25, 2011. Make sure you've made your room reservation (and payment) before August 2011. Hope to see many of you in Arnhem. Hennie
  6. This is a reminder that the closing date for registering and paying for the Accommodation at StayOkay is only one week away! After 1st of August you can still register for the tournament, but you would have to organise your own place to stay in Arnhem (and StayOkay will most likely have no rooms available for that weekend very soon). The scenario list is published on our website (http://www.arnhemasl.com), we already have a good number of paid up participants so you know what to expect: 6 rounds of ASL in the peaceful environment of the Arnhem woods (with nightlife just around the corner). So if you are still planning to be part of another great tournament in Arnhem this year, please send us an email as soon as possible on arnhemasl at hotmail.com Hennie
  7. Andreas, We hope the scenarios offer something for everything. Our main goal was to find some unusual scenario's you don't see that often and I hope we've succeeded. We first choose our themes and started to look for scenarios that fitted in the themes but that's sometimes a bit hard as you can't always find what you want. For instance, the 'the weather out there is frightful'-theme has so wait (for the 3rd time :-) for next year. Hennie
  8. We would like to let you all know that the scenario list for the Arnhem 2010 tournament is complete. You can find it on our website: http://www.arnhemasl.com/ The tournament will start in the evening of Thursday, September 23 till Sunday, September 26 2010. Information about room reservations is available on the website. Please note that to book a room you must register and pay before August 1, 2010 We hope to see you in Arnhem in September. 9. Dear friends from Sweden, Information about the 2010 Arnhem ASL Tournament is now online at http://www.arnhemasl.com/ The tournament will be held in Arnhem from September 23 - September 26, 2010. The costs for the 2010 edition are the same as in 2009 but we have a new Paypal address (ask for this with your booking). On the website you'll find the themes for the tournament rounds & mini tournaments. The actual scenarios will be up on the website at the beginning of June. As you probably see we have a new website thanks to one of our sponsors: Andreas Carlsson of Trojan Games. We would like to thank Andrea s for this nice present. Right now the content of the website is much the same as before but we'll be looking for a new layout in the coming months. We hope to see you in Arnhem in September. Check this link http://www.xs4all.nl/~hennies As Peter is currently in Dense Jungle terrain and Radio Contact to Birma is limited he asked me to inform you guys that you please note that reservation and payment of the accomodation has to be done before August 1 if you want to be sure of a bed. After August 1 we can't guarantee if there's accomodation left at the tournament location. For more information please check the website. Tournament dates are September 24 - 27, 2009. See you in September, Hennie
  11. Dear ASL friends from Sweden, Peter Struijf asked me to post this message at the Swedish ASL forum. I hope to see a lot of you in September in Arnhem. Hennie Dear ASL Friends, we are happy to announce the dates of the 5th edition of the Bridge Too Far Arnhem ASL Tournament. From humble, cosy beginnings in 2003, the Arnhem tournament has grown beyond our expectations and can now count on 40 - 48 participants, from a wide range of countries. The tournament will run from the evening of Thursday 20th September through to the early afternoon of Sunday, 23rd September 2007. The Themes for this year are decided and scenario selection is almost completed - we expect to announce the selection in early May. There is one major difference with regards to accommodation. Over the past few years, several participants have cancelled at the last moment, leaving us to pay for their empty beds - this is the way it works with the StayOkay. If we don't book the rooms, they will all be sold to other guests by June or July and most of you would not get the cheap and convenient deal at the tournament venue. But after a certain date (early August), we cannot return our reserved beds anymore - we then have to pay for them, even if we kept them for people who cancelled late. This has cost us hundreds of Euros over the past years and we simply cannot continue to subsidise the tournament in this way. Therefore, we will now sell our reserved rooms at StayOkay UNTIL 1st of August. After that, we hand back any spare rooms to the Hostel and everyone who decides to join us after that, will have to arrange their own accommodation in Arnhem. We do need full payment in advance (if you would have to cancel before 1st of August, you will get your money back) - please check our website www.xs4all.nl/~hennies . For those of you, who have already decided to take part in the Arnhem tournament in September and want to organise their accommodation through us - Peter Struijf will attend the Copenhagen tournament at the end of this week and will be ready to accept your payment. Many greetings and good gaming, Peter & Liz Struijf Arnhem Tournament Directors
